It´s not easy to find a good bikini, especially if you are looking for one that would be eco-friendly, look good and stay where it´s supposed to.
Next to that I don´t really fit in one size, so I´m always trying to find a brand that sells tops and bottoms separately, so I can get my perfect match. That´s why I was super excited to try on Tinka Blu eco-friendly surf bikini. And I have to tell you – It really does it all! It looks good, feels good, it´s made from recycled materials and it stays in place after jumping in the water, going snorkeling (or of course surfing)!
Tinka Blu offers surf bikini collection as mix-and-match pieces. Mix any design, colour and size and match it together to your own style. The swimwear fabrics are not only sustainable but also of a high quality. They are super soft, dry quickly, include UV protection and are sun-cream resistant. Furthermore, the fabrics are certified after OEKO-TEX® Standard 100, which means they are free from harmful substances. Both, the materials and bikinis are sourced and manufactured in Turkey, Europe.
My Top: Soul Surfer in purple, without padding or wire. Size 36 (40,00€)
My Bottom: Soul Surfer in purple, with a key pocket and loop in the back. Size 38 (40,00€)
Both parts are made from:
- Shell: 78% recycled Polyamide, 22% Xtra Life LYCRA®
- Lining: 93% Polyamide, 7% Elastane
Tinka Blu bikinis are made from recycled materials. Trash, such as abandoned fishing nets or old carpets, is collected from landfills and oceans, regenerated into raw materials and swimwear fabrics, and is finally sewn into bikinis. It´s a dream come true! (just check my last post and you will know why)
Through this innovative process, waste can be reduced, reused and find a new purpose. Furthermore, this production technique saves resources, such as crude oil and energy, and helps reduce CO2 emissions compared with the production of normal swimwear fabrics.
Tinka Blu wants to contribute positively to the reduction of waste and the environmental footprint they leave behind. Not only is their swimwear eco-friendly but they also incorporate a more sustainable approach to all business processes. They source renewable energy and their website is hosted by a green provider. They pack the products in recycled packaging and ship climate neutral with GoGreen.
“I think we need to be more responsible with our resources and change our habits to a more conscious and sustainable lifestyle. The social and ecological problems caused by the fashion industry, driven by fast fashion and overconsumption are not to hide anymore. As long as there is no sustainable alternative, the consumer can only contribute to the problem without choice.“ Martina- Tinka Blu
